Do I need a boiler service?
At Greenfield Services we offer a range of servicing to keep your gas appliances working to their full potential. Your boiler is the beating heart of your home. Whether it’s keeping your showers hot in the morning or the living room cosy in the evening, a quality boiler is vital to a working household. It’s for this very reason that it can be a burden if your boiler runs into issues.
With this in mind, it can pay, both in time and money, to have your boiler annually serviced. We have our own team of Gas Safe Engineers and we’ve put together this quick list of some points as to why a boiler service is important.
Safety
When carrying out a boiler service, our engineers are able to identify any safety issues which could potentially cause harm, 250 hospitalisations were reported between 2001-2010 in England & Wales due to non-fire related carbon monoxide poisoning. Our Gas Safe registered engineers are trained to look for leaks and any issues which may cause Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
Warranty
If your boiler is relatively new, it will usually include a manufacture’s warranty between 1-10 years, meaning if any faults that develop between that time frame should be repaired by the manufacture free of charge. However, this warranty is only valid if you have your boiler serviced by a Gas Safe Engineer every year.

Prevent unexpected bills/Keep heating bills low
Boilers not running properly may be due to small problems which can become big ones if they are left unattended. During a service, our engineers can detect and fix any minor problems to help prevent any escalation of any future malfunctions and costly repairs. As your boiler ages it can become less efficient and therefore require more fuel to heat your home, resulting in higher bills. By servicing your boiler, any component parts which may be affecting the boilers efficiency can be identified and changed/cleaned to keep your boiler in the best possible condition.
If you are a landlord, it is a legal requirement
All gas appliances in a property should be checked by a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer to ensure safety for your tenants. The Gas safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 outline your duties a a landlord to make sure all gas appliances, fittings, chimneys and flues are safe and working efficiently. If you are letting a property with gas appliances installed, you’ve got three main legal responsibilities:
- Gas safety checks
- Gas Safety Record
- Maintenance (servicing)
